Walking the crosswalk isn't safe

I'm about 8 miles from this area and trust me, no one will stop for you. Which is illegal anyway, and pedistrians have the right of way. The street was completely shut down just on one side.

There's areas like that where I live too... Like there's a crosswalk and you're still at high risk as a pedestrian to walk across there... I always hate it when a stupid pedestrian walks out in front of my car when they shouldnt... well this is the same thing, when drivers dont stop for them and they should. And nobody wants to see a death come out of this.... if there's anything the city can do there to improve the safety, they should defintely be doing it.
