i am thinking of getting 2 12 inch jl w7 and 2 jl 1000.1 amps but it is a ton of money and i wanted to know if it would be worth it or if it would have to much bass. i have a very simple and cheap system now so it would be a big step up and i want the best sound i can get if you have any suggestions

For the money, you can get a lot of equipment that rivals the JL setup you mentioned. Take a look at Elemental Designs, Adire Audio, or Resonant Engineering. They all have a nice mix of SPL and SQ depending on your tastes. The JL W7's are amazing drivers, however, on a limited budget, they may not be your wisest choice.

first of all before we start naming a setup for you, why dont you answer some questions so we can help you out. obviously if you were considering 2 w7's and 2 1000/1's, so you have a lot of money to spend. but how much do you WANT to spend? I mean you could get a nice system for the price of just 1 w7. (2 k's and a 1200.1) are you looking for all out SPL (loudness) or some SQ (sound quality). How much trunk room do you have? Have you upgraded your alternator/battery in your car? You cant just throw over 2,000 watts in your car and expect your car to handle it. Answer these questions, then we will help you out. If you plan on getting a very high powered system..your going to end up spending about just as much on electrical system upgrades as you are on the actual audio.

you have the output, but jack in the way of quality in comparision to w7's....

Maybe not the SQ of the W7 w/the xxx's, but somehow I'd be willing to bet the XXX would blow away the W7 in SPL.

I am looking for a good combination of sound quality and loudness i have a nissan pathfinder so i have the back to fill up also i have not upgraded the alternator or battery and i would like to have a set up that i wont have to but if i do thats ok

well if you dont plan on upgrading...i dont recommend sending more then 1200w rms. Maybe pick up 3 or 4 e15k's and port them with a 1200w amp?? That way you probably wont need an alt upgrade. That should be very loud.

mabey just 1 w7....I have 1 12 with a 1000/1 and it runs harder than pretty much anything around here.....mabey look at one or a pair of brahma's too, with the money you save mabey you can up your electrical system....

u know i may be wrong but i thought they werent making 15"eDK's anymore they may i may be wrong but when i go to their site all they have is 10" and 12" eDK's now they have 15"eDA's

My friend had two 13.5" W7s and 4 Crossfire 2000Ds. He had never replace the Alternator, but he had extra batteries. He had a 2000 Mustang. A wall behind the driver and passenger seats. Box was huge, the entire back seat area. He hit a 151 at a SLAP show in Hampton, VA with only one W7 and 2 Crossfire 2000Ds. Note I said he HAD. Car was total lost. Sold subs for $400 a piece and amps for $400 a piece.

The W7s are awesome. Expensive but awesome. If you got the money, then get it. However you could use that same money and create a SQL Monster.

i cant wait to get mine and see how they sound everyone is talkin about them and if i dont like them that is what ebay is for lol or sell them to someone around here lol

but eveyone tells me that there is no way i would hate them

but my brothers knows how to do that pretty good

he had a set of old kicker comps hooked up to a sucky amp and they still sounded better than a lot of ppl set ups i heard well the SQ wasnt the best but they thumped pretty good but he listens to a lot of bass i listen to rock rap and every thing that is y im gettin the elemental designs cuz every one said they have the best mix of both for their price

so i will find out myself lol

I helped install a W7 today at the shop i work at. It was in a Lexus IS 300. It was a 12W7 running off of a JL 1000/1. It sounded very very nice, and was louder than most people would like a daily driver. If you have the money, i would say go for the W7s. They are an awesome driver. I agree with the other posts that you can get a comparable driver for less money. If you have the $$, go for the W7s. I dont think you will be disappointed.
