W7 or what

I have one as well, it get plenty loud for me. But he said he wanted a w7, so i suggested 2 to keep it close to the same output.
If he uses the same amp(has a 500/1 in his sig), why would he need 2 W6v2s to have comparable output of ONE W7? The W7 isn't tremendously more efficient than a W6v2(might be less efficient, actually).

Didnt see that all he had was a 500/1. In that case stick with one 12w6v2

That is my point. I couldn't understand why the suggestion was made to go with 2 W6v2s in order to have the "same output" as 1 W7.

I think the W6v2 is a very underrated sub. It is not often considered since most people when they think great sounding JL subs just immediately think W7.

I figured he would have more power if he were going with a w7, my mistake.

And i love my 12w6v2, and i agree they are underrated...IMO

I think most people on the forums think that if you run a W7, you somehow need to run a bazillion watts to it or else it is either a waste or it won't sound good.

I demoed a 12W7 in a sealed box off my 500/1 in my civic I used to have. The sq was incredible, and it rattled the rearview mirror out of adjustment(which is more bass than i will ever need).

I went with the w6v2 since given the power I was running, the w6v2 would serve my purpose for less money and SQ wise, up to 500 watts, Manville Smith of JL Audio recommends the W6v2 over the W7.

That, and my ears, are good enough reasons for me.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I am also good friends with the owners of the local shop, and they gave me an excellent price.

I agree

One of the reasons i went with the 12W6v2 is because of its performance in small enclosures, suited my needs for my car...
