w6ae vs Idmax v3

The IDMAX will get louder, and its very noticeable.

Sound quality difference..it depends. The IDMAX is able to reproduce higher bass frequency (such as midbass) better in a small sealed box. It's versatile that you can use it in a sealed, ported, IB, etc and it will sound great. The W6 on the other hand, sounds best in a sealed box, a rather medium size or larger box that is.

Overall, the W6 falls a tad bit short, mainly because the IDMAX has more potential in volume. Sound quality of the W6 is still some of the best out there.

The rms on it says about 250-300 while the w6 is about 300-400. Shouldn't the w6 be louder? hmmm sorry i am a newb with lot of questions. oh yeah and which version's of the idmax would run good off a phoenix gold tantrum 500.2 amp?

Are you sure you're looking at the IDMAX? The IDMAX RMS rating is 1000w RMS. Maybe you're looking at the IDQ or IDv3?

Anyways, the RMS of the sub does not dictate how loud a subwoofer gets. That is just a rating of how much power the voice coil may take for a period of time, not necessarly how loud. If RMS dictates how loud a speaker can get, then horn loaded compression drivers should be the quietest with less than 5w, but we all know that's not true //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

How much are you looking to spend and how many subwoofers do you need? Is this for pure sound quality or is it for just loudness? How loud do you need your bass to be? What type of music do you listen to?

looking for one sub either. oh my bad it is da idmax v2 i am looking at. it is 1000 watt rms. would it sound good putting half it's rms into it? cuz i dont wanna spend money on another amp. I want sound quality mostly and loudness to be heard and shake the car. i am only willing to spend less then 180. on a tight budget. I listen to rap , hip hop , freestyle. stuff like that.

huh?? they're coming out with a v4 next year...

Yeah.....right......that'll happen.

Just like the 15" IDMax that was supposed to come out in '99? Or the IDOne that has been vaporware since around 2000? Or the CTX series subs that only still "needed packaging materials selected" as of Sept '04....that we are still waiting on?

Get the idv3 for that amp. If you get the 1000rms IDMaxv3 then I would recommend getting a bigger amp, otherwise your wasting money on that woofer. I mean I am sure it will sound good but wont be putting the woofer to its fullest potential. I wish I had some money I would toss the r's and get the Idmax V3'S. Good luck!
