VW bug owners?

Coming up with an audio system isn't a big priority, but space isn't a big deal to me. My Tacoma had almost nothing for space, but I found a way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Keep the advice coming. I'll definately be asking alot more from the VW folks around the internet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif
well what do you want to know.

well what do you want to know.
- What modern engine swap options are there?

- How difficult are most body mods like heater channel replacement, fenders, etc?

- Are the suspension bushings difficult to replace? I've replaced struts and springs before, but I assume bushings are one of those things that are overlooked often.

- chick magnet? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

350 Chevy if you have tons of money to blow and a strong desire to look like a pancake. Otherwise, Porsche engines will work...some of them that is. The engines are very modifiable however, and can be bored out to ridiculous sizes, turbo'd, nos'd whatever....

Heater channels are tough. You should probably have someone do those for you... Fenders are a piece of cake...about a dozen bolts. Worst part is if they are rusted. One gasket per fender and your set.

Do not know the answer to this one. There are aftermarket bushings, but I've not had any experience with them

Well now...it's not like it's a skyline or something, but I think you'd do well enough in this area. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

As far as engine swaps...if its like my 914...there is a small block chevy V8 swap option I think a Chevy V6 swap....also an Electric conversion...and I found a suby conversion for various suby motor models including the turbo versions........which looked pretty neat...all 3 are pretty pricey...

Body mods should be simple.....and suspension are pretty easy...

as far as a chick magnet...maybe paint it pink or purple will get their attention ...or maybe find a hippy chick....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i think the only modern engine swaps i've seen are subaru swaps. swaps are more work than necessary. you can get the old engines in so many sizes that modern swaps are more of like a "can i do it" kind of thing. a lot of people swap old porsche engines though.

fenders are just as easy as any fender replacement. unhook headlights/taillights, get underneath find the bolts, take fender off.

i haven't had to replace my heater channels, but from what i've skimmed on samba and vwvortex, it involves cutting, welding, removing body parts and such. but since you're looking to buy a car, obviously check to make sure both heater channels, floor pans, battery tray and all the common spots like those are rust free.

when i redid my suspension, i just helped my mechanic do it so basically i was doing what he told me, and we had any tools necessary, and it all went smoothly.

chick magnet? it's not like i pull girls because of my car, but you'd be suprised at how many people actually do like it. for all the hate i seem to get on forums like this and offtopic, it's rare that i go somewhere busy and don't get compliments on it. and i'm in the middle of bodywork so my car looks like shit. but the most common thing that comes out of a girls mouth when she sees my car is "oh my god i love your car it's so cute" so as long as you're not one of those guys that has the "my car needs to be badass" mentality, then you'll like the attention it gets.

I know we are tlking older models but I like this .....
