I'm 22 and have never stepped foot in a voting booth...Honestly just don't care, most people don't educate themselves before they vote anyway and I refuse to just pick whoever has the catchiest slogan.

meh, i vote, but i acknowledge the fact that i'm basically picking between pol pot and satan.

and i would definitely agree that many people do not educate themselves before the vote, and simply vote based on party loyalty or single issues (abortion, gay marriage, etc). Personally, i'm a fan of 8 year term limits on every single politician ever including local, state, and federal. I'm not sure how much this would help at a larger level but i feel like it could help some on the local level.
