what is your opinions on the volfenhag zx-monoblock and the zx-8400?

i am looking at buying one of these amps to push either 4 187 seies 12's or one death penalty 21"

how could you consider buying a quality Incriminator Audio product and at the same time go for a piece of shit volfenhag amp?If its a money issue get less subs and spend more on an amp.

Great idea!

Really though -- Volf is one of the many sub-par American Hifi brands. They are right alongside such winners as Rockwood, Phoenix Digital, Performance Teknique, American Pro and DHD.

Unlike most cheap companies they do seem to rate their amps fairly accurately -- maybe even conservatively (just ignore the max power crap). The zx8400 has 2x40A fuses and is only rated for 600w rms.

The zxmonoblock has 2x30's and is rated for 650. About right for a class D.

Reliability will be the issue, and I don't think anyone with a clue would tell you to expect a long life out of these. Plus the impedance match ups aren't great either way. The 187's being 3 ohms are a problem for either amp. You might get 100-125w to each one using the 8400 bridged at 6 ohms.

The DP SVC 4 doesn't match up with either amp.
