voice coils

so i burned up the voice coils on my sub the first time around. im running a 15" CV stroker pro with a sundown SAZ 3000D. gains are set correctly, even backed down a hair from where they should be. running it @ 1ohm with a single run of 1/0 guage from the battery. batterys an optima red top, and i have an upgraded mean green alternator.

i got a recone kit and put it in. sub played fine first day. went out for a ride this morning, and i can swear im smelling the voice coils starting to go. i havent seen any smoke yet (the first time around there was a lot of heavy grey smoke) but im staring to smell burning. thing is, i have the remote gain, and its as low as it will go. im not sure what could be my problem. SSF and LPF are set correclty, the sub isnt bottoming out. i gave the sub 6 hours of break in the first time around and i burned up the voice coils. this time i figured i wouldnt break it in. just let it wang like everybody on here says. im not beatin' on it yet, but im playing it at normal volume.

you think it could be a problem with the box being too big? 5 cubes tuned at 32?

the first tiem around i set the gains correctly, but iw as also using the bass boost. so i attributed the VC damage to that. this tiem. gains set right, no BB and i fell like the VC are ready to go again.

i really dont want the coils to go again, considering ive had this sub 2 months already and ive only gotten maybe 2 weeks play time out of it.

well, it can be the excess glue burning off.. best bet is.. stop being retarded with it?

thats whats bothering me though. the remote gain is as low as it will go right now so the sub isnt receiving full power. i could see if i was playing it hard and this happened, but im not.

sounds like that the sub isnt gonna be able to handle the sundown, maybe try rewiring to a different impedence.
