aluminum coils generally can handle more power.

alum is lighter than copper, but copper is more conductive. Each have their advantages and disadvantages

We can't just tell you to use copper or aluminum for a daily woofer -- it's all about the overall woofer. The material of the coil is chose to reach the design parameters desired.

If your woofer of choice has the option of copper or aluminum -- in the same woofer and at least a similar size coil the copper one will tend to give you a bit more low-end response from the additional mass. Aluminum can often, but not always, be louder as it is much lighter.
