Voice coil question

Ok, I'm trying to figure out one more thing with the Dvc thing. How exactly is the power distributed when you use one? Do you send the power to one vc and it distributes to the other? I ask because I wonder if I have a 600wrms dvc and each VC takes 300wrms, do I send the speaker voltage for 300 or 600 wrms? My...ignorant...thinking is if I send it voltage for 600wrms, won't I blow the voice coil? I tried to find the answer myself and couldn't and I was also looking at the following site.

you have to look at the rms rating of the sub, if it says 600 rms you can probably safely put at least 750 watts on it does not matter what voice coil, you drop the ohm load so your amp can give it more power, the lower the ohm the more power your amp gives out.
