voice coil question

i just got a hand me down idmax dual 4ohm. when i test it with the meter it reads 3.4. normal? or whats goin on?

Yes, normal. You are measuring voice coil resistance, not impedance -- so you will not get a reading of 4-ohms, but something a little lower than that -- a reading of 3.4 is perfectly acceptable (if measuring the voice coils separately).
