Voice Coil Question

I know what a voice coil does, but what effect on the sound of a speaker does having a larger voice coil have?

in general, a larger vc can sometimes handle more power and heat, but not allways.

But does it affect the sound at all compared to some manufacturers like Focal and CDT who don't use any bigger than a 1.5" VC compared to Morel/Dynaudio/DLS who stick a 3" VC in some of their speakers?

well also if you think about pressure on the cone, a larger voice coil will apply pressure on a larger area of the cone and theoretically distort the cone less
