Voice Coil Problems!!

Ok so I have a box with two seperate chambers with two seperate terminals....i have two pionneer 2ohm DVC subs and i am wiring each sub in series to the terminal...i tested the ohms with a multimeter and the resistance is about 3 ohms i am very confused...if i wire them in series to the terminal and then to one channel of the two in the amp and do that for both sides will that end up giving me a 2 ohm load on the amp....how do i test that its 2 ohms when hooked to the NON- powered up amp...THANKS

meter the coils right at the sub terminals with your multimeter. if it shows otherwise, run the wires through the port as the terminal cups will add resistance to your load. not saying all cups are like that but it happens.

please someone help!! I have 2 DVC 2ohm speakers and i wired each one in a seires....the multimeter is reading 3ohms per sub...is it because i have such big wires on it or when i hook each sub to the amp i have to switch subthing or what...I am so confused...please help!!

It's not uncommon for a "2 Ohm" vc to actually be 1.4 or 1.5 Ohm. If you look at most subwoofer specs, the Re is listed as so.

I wouldn't worry about it. Your impedance is said to rise due to the box, and change while playing music.

The size of your wire is cannot reduce the resistance, only add resistance. The fact that your using bigger wire would only mean that you're adding slightly less resistance than using smaller speaker wire. Either way, that speaker wire resistance is mostly negligible at those lengths.

Yeah, you may get a little more power though. May be somewhere between the amp's rating for 250 x 2 @ 4 Ohm and 500 x 2 @ 2 Ohm. Then again, the amp is probably a little overrated though. Just make sure you set your gains correctly and you should be alright.

I think for a series wiring do you have to connect the subs together?? Like take the + wire from one terminal and solider it to the + wire from the other terminal (all of this outside the box)....and then do i bridge it?? b/c if i do that i will be giving them 1000RMS from my hiffonics two channel....please help

Wrong vc configuration for those subs on that amp to get 1000 W.

Each dual 2 Ohm sub can be wired to 4 or 1 Ohm. The two subs together can be wired to 2 Ohm or 0.5 Ohm. Those are your options.

You should have bought dual 4 Ohm subs for that amp, or an amp that does the power you need at 2 Ohm for the subs you have.

The power that i need is at 2 ohms which is what i want but do i have to solider any of the wires together?? Or can i just seires wire the right sub and hook it to the right side of the amp and do the same for the left....what i mean is do i have to connect the subs together??....i think my multimeter is wrong....its not digital..
