Visonik v4000xd not putting out as much power as I would expect.

So I just bought a Visonik v4000xd on here, and decided to hook it up to check it out.

Rewired my Fi Q to 4 ohm.

This thing is supposed to put out 2.5 kw rms at 4 ohm.

So I turn the gain all the way to 0 turn on the car/HU and start turning up the gain to set it up.

Half way up, barely hearing the sub.

Gain all the way up, it sounds to be about 3/4 what my US amps md1d was pushing.

Now, I don't have 1/0 going to it yet I do have 1 gauge going to it. But it's not even dimming my lights like the md1d did at 1200 watts @ 1ohm.

So what am I doing wrong here?

check with a dmm to see if you are at 4ohm maybe something there is not right i have done that before with a new amp i thought i was at 1ohm and all along i was at 4ohm.

That's 2500w rms @ 4 ohms at 16 volts

Idk what it is with 14 volts. But maybe the sensitivity has a wider range then the US amps.

Are your settings on the deck optimizing the prevolt outs?

# Rms Power @ 14.4V DC: 1 x 2500W @ 4 Ohm, 1 x 3500W @ 2 Ohm

# Rms Power @ 17V DC: 1 x 3000W @ 4 Ohm, 1 x 4000W @ 2 Ohm

But I dont know that I have my deck's preouts set to a certain voltage yet, time to read the manual on that one,

So the amps spec say that 0.2 - 8V RCA Input Voltage if I have the ability should I set my HU to 8v output?

Hu's max preout is 2.2 volt so I guess you're right about the line driver.

I still havnt turned my HU all the way up, I'm at 50/62 because I'm worried about the HU clipping the signal. Is that a dumb idea?

No that's not dumb, just tune the amp with a multimeter or oscilliscope.

no, that's a great idea, the highest I crank my head unit is 28/35, I think only retards crank the volume to the max lol, if I'm not mistaken most head units produce higher distortion after 3/4 of volume, but I could be wrong
