Very small 4 channel ?

Hi, first post here, and I have done some searching but no luck.

I'm looking for input on a decent, not premium, not bottom feeder, amp that handles four channels. 25-50 RMS would be fine, as long as the quality is decent on the unit.

The biggest issue is size. It must be narrower than 9 inches, shorter than 11 inches. Up to 2.5 inches in thickness. I need to put it under a center seat in a newer model F150.

I also do not wish to spend a lot of money on this unit; e-bay/refurbished etc. is fine.

I am not into loud music; just want decent SQ over the road noise.

My truck is sound deadened.

I am looking for a new head unit and all the ones I am considering have RCA outputs.

I already have an amp/sub combo so just need the 4 channel.

Any info on which models are small enough to fit would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

Manoman - the Alpine MRP-F250 (40w X 4 @ 4 Ohm stereo) will almost fit your required dimensions but not quite //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

11-1/4"W x 2-3/8"H x 9-9/16"D

I'ma keep looking though...

According to Alpine, the width is actually just below 11" and depth is a little less than 9.5". If there is ANY way in your truck to get that extra half inch depth, you will be happy with this amp.

Not to be a jerk correcting you, but when there are such small constrictions, every little bit counts.

I was just going with the published dimensions on Crutchfield's site. If the unit is smaller in reality then I take no issue with being corrected //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks for such quick responses. I have looked at the MRP-F250 but to install it would require cutting about half an inch off the two seatbelt bolts... Don't think I want to do that just yet;)

I have put a stock Kenwood amp (very small) under there, but sold it with the DVD Z910 head unit.

I have seen small amps in odd brands like Pyramid and Lightning but the general consensuses seems to be not to trust the electronics in these bottom priced units.

Memphis sells one or two that would work, but I'm afraid they are out of my budget on this project.

Again thanks for the help.

You said you already had a sub/amp combo, perhaps where your current amp is you have room to replace it with a 5 or 6 channel?
Not really. This is a regular cab pickup. The sub/amp SRV303 is mounted against the back wall. This gives me more than enough woofer, but no other amp and woofer would fit there. Plus where it is located is not a good place for the wires that a 5 channel amp would need. Then I would also have no place for a woofer if that place was filled by an amp.

I am sure there are small amps; I have seen them on e-bay occasionally.

I am just hoping that someone with more car amp experience would be able to tell me of one.

I have read many hundreds of ads, and unfortunately many sellers will not tell you the size of their amps. Clarion for example often will not give you dimensions even in their manuals.

So without actual hands on access there is no way to tell the size.
