Summary of VCD: Worse picture (much worse), slightly worse sound, and no menus ...
HD-DVD > DVD > SVCD > VCD > VHS

would a HD-DVD ( i assume HD is HIGH DEF) would you be able to tell a diff on a tft lcd screen in a car, i know nothing about them

HD-DVD can handle up to 30 GB of information (triple that of a Dual Layer DVD), so they feature higher quality picture, higher quality sound, and more features.
I'm not sure if it's actually been released yet, but I'm pretty confident that you wouldn't be able to tell the difference on a 7" screen ...

daM, 30 gb would be sweet, i wonder what they cost.....
