Hey well I'm finaly gonna be chaning my system up and I'm going for Pure SQ...

So my choice of speakers I was going to get are the Boston Acoustics Z6 for the fronts and the Boston Acoustics Pro's for the rears.

And or the Focal 165K2P's not sure yet...

Now what I wanted to know are what are some extremley good SQ amps? I was looking at Arc Audio, Audison, JBL, JL Audio, Alpine (eh), Crossfire, Zapco, etc.? I'm lookin' to find 100 x 4 or plus that. If ya'll could throw your input in there it would be greatly appreciated!

Any amp in your price range that outputs the power you need and has the features you desire (crossover, etc) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

What's your budget?

For the amp...I'll spend a good penny...lets say $500-$900

Don't really need to spend that much, but if it could be found for less it would be great!

Also brands of EQ's or Crossover systems.

If you're going with Boston's, you'll want a lot more than 100w per channel.

I'd downgrade the rears to co-axials and run two separate 2-channel amps rather than a single 4-channel. You'll really want a good 250w per side with the Bostons.

I second that rear speaker downgrade. Put the money towared proper sound deadening and/or your amp. Any of the afformentioned amps will serve you well....dunno if I'd put Alpine up with the ranks of Zap, Arc, Audison, etc.

Zapco's C2k line is an excellent choice and you may be able to find a used one floating around for $400-500.

If you go the Z6 route, you would need a good 250+ watts per side as Squeak has suggested. In this category, the MBQ QAA 4250 is one hell of an amp that can be had for like $425.....BUT that's at Ikesound:( and might be a gamble.

If you shoot over to elitecaraudio.com, you will find some VERY nice $hit for really agressive prices for sale by dudes who run the best stuff out there...Brax, Sinfoni, Helix, etc.

Another company to consider is DLS:D

MBQ QAA 4250

just like FOXPRO said that is a nice amp. lol CLEAN also hte F545 is a nice 4 channel form alpine clean not LOUD. i am using a SX kicker amp with digital read out. a NICE eq is alpine PXA-H701 that a 187 band EQ.

sorry to high jack thread but... as far as sub amps go for a SQ set up what is mostly used? 1200watts? im guessing FAR LESS
Depends. There isn't really a "mostly" used. It's whatever fits your application. There are SQ systems with 2kw+ amps for the substage, and some with 150w amps for the substage.

And yes, those with the 2kw amps were true sound quality setups...placing highly at IASCA world finals.

But it will "sound" just as good (no different, atleast).
Mmmmm not IME Squeak....otherwise I would not have made the comment. Last time I went to Ultimate Electronics, I did not see or hear anything that was "ultimate" which included anything Alpine had to offer. I also owned 3 Alpine amps in my day and they can't run with Zapco....dollar per watt or whatever spec you want to use. I understand what you are saying, but I will stick to my stance till the day I cease to exist on the physical plane:)

You can have your opinion, I can have mine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

You won't hear a difference between them.

No offense to that thread or the forum....but a lot of people on ECA believe in myths and pixie dust. And I'm not saying that negatively, I love ECA and consider that my "home" forum, that's where I've learned most of what I know.....but some of the people on that forum toss science out the window in favor of their own golden ears...and it's that type of information you need to be weary of.

No one has beat RC's amp challenge yet. If there was a definitive difference in the sound of amplifier topology, that is the perfect vehicle to prove such in. And nobody has done it yet.

If you went by 'golden ears' you'd be looking at running Focals in conjunction to Audisons....they claim to be the pixie dust that warms them up...

None taken, and yes there are always idividuals that claim extrodinary things. But netherland asked "what is most used" and he got a pretty good feel by reading that thread. If anyone can claim to hear the difference between a class D and an A/B on their sub, they can come over and fart in my dinner - spray fart - and I will eat it:D

The only finite varible that is consistant among amplifiers is their ablity to amplifiy....and some do it "better" than others and this variable *IS* audible....I know this b/c I have platinum ears *****es //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif [Mr Clark's wallet just got significantly lighter] just joking no need to flame my ***:up2somet:
