US amps Merlin MD2D

I was wondering...I Have a new MD2D and it has 3 40amp fuses I was wondering if it would be safe to move up to like 50amp fuses or maybe bigger... Do you guys think this is a plausible idea? I know on some amps you can put bigger fuses but I don't know about the MD2D. 3 40amp fuses seems kinda low for a 1500watt amp...

they put that size fuse in there for a reason

do not put a bigger fuse in an amp

there is a reason if they are blowing

My fuses are not blowing I was told with American Bass amps you can switch out fuses and be safe. Merlin told me I could put out 2000 with some 50amps so I might have to try it out. There is a reason I made the thread before I tried it out...(sigh)

any other input from someone with some actual knowledge backing their statements?

The 40's are plenty. That amp is not going to do 2000 watts RMS, even at 14.4 volts.

Have you ever even blown those fuses???? Does not sound like it. . . Just changing fuses will not get you more power. If you are blowing the (3) 40 amp fuses, you may be asking for too much out of the amp. . . (3) 50's may get you more power, but it may also get you a blown amp instead of blown fuses.

A fuse is protection against too much current. It breaks opening the circuit stopping the flow of electricity.

To produce more power the amp would have to pull more current. So, if the amplifier was capable of producing more power by pulling more current you would blow the 40 Amp fuses that you have. But since you haven't blow any fuses there is no way that putting a bigger fuse in will create any more output power...
