This might of been answered but what exactly does the Good Search Appliance do? Why would someone buy it? Im assuming it searches but how so; does it pull data from the web automatically with a list someone makes?

No, you are correct. For the google search engine they use off the shelf computers using a very customized linux (around 80,000 servers).
This is a side project they did. This box is designed to do searches on an intranet. You could buy these for around 25,000 (most of the cost was in the software) to do very quick searches on your internal network (I believe this one could do 300,000 indexes and 25 requests a second)

Basically is used to do internal searches on your companies network.

Yeah my work rocks. Na, not really selling anything (I have a problem with that when its totally free to me and it isn't my style). I won't ship out any of the big servers because they are just way too heavy.....but if you really need something else, let me know)
