In the next week or so I plan on doing a few things, just want some opinions and what I should think about or watch out for..
Current set up: 12" L5 '05 in a 3cu ported box to 34hz, hifonics amp shooting it 300 rms (lol that's right 300, I still think it hits pretty good).
Plans: I want to upgrade the whole sub setup but I don't have enough money, so I decided to swap amps and keep the sub until I can afford another sub. So I'm almost about to pick up an MD2, going to power the L5 with 900 rms, upgrading the wiring, and one main thing I'm looking forward to is getting back trunk space. I decided to build a very skinny box that will be .75-1 cu, sealed. Sort of like a wall-like box, at first I was thinking about fiberglassing so it really would look like a wall and look real good, but I think for now I'll just keep it as the largest rectangle I can fit at the back of my trunk. Anyways, dimensions would be something like 16x34in and a width of about 5 inches or a little more, and mounting the sub inverted of course.
Any opinions? Any predictions on loss/gain of output? I'm hoping to gain sq of course from going sealed, but output is harder because although I'm getting a lot more power, I'm going from big ported to small sealed. Don't know if this is a silly question but I was sort of worried about such a thin box with the sub inverted, would it tip easy if mounted with those L brackets from lowes? Anyways, there it is, let me know if there's something I should be thinking about with this setup in mind. Thanks
