I have a 2008 Infiniti FX35 with a factory Bose system. I don't bother listening to music because it sounds so poor, so I want to upgrade. A professional installer will be doing the work, not me.
The factory system has the GPS and backup camera and a 6-disc CD player, and all of this really needs to stay because I can't afford to replace everything.
So my thought was to disconnect the Bose amp and all the speakers, install a new amp, put new 6.5" speakers in the front door, and new tweeters in the dash.
Is that reasonable? If not, why?
And some questions to influence the final selections...
1. Is it possible to fit 6x9s into the front doors which currently have 6.5" round? I'm looking for speakers that can hit lower frequencies, since I won't be doing a subwoofer at this time.
2. If not, is the idea of adding 6x9s into the rear doors worthwhile? Again, I'm looking for lower frequencies. People only sit in the front seats.
3. One shop I went to said that I'd "need" some type of sound processor because I'd be disconnecting the existing Bose one. Is this true? Can't I just take the radio and CD outputs and put them into an amp and then out to speakers?
4. Time alignment for staging is very cool and something I'd like a lot. But I don't think I can afford it at this time. Is this something I can add on later?
