Upgrade Alpine 9835 to 7998.. Worth it?

Hey guys... I've been away for a while but I'm back.

I just stopped by my local shop here and I saw a 7998 on the sound board and the upgrade bug took a bite out of me lol..

Is there any difference in SQ between the 7998 and 9835? The flip out 1.5 din face of the 7998 looks cool though and it doesn't have an internal amp - doesn't really matter to me since im not using any rearfill off of HU. I was wondering if there is anything else that's different, sound wise, electronically or whatever.

Please post here if you had experiences with both units. Thanks!

I went from the 7897 to the 9815 to the 7998...the 7998 is pure secks

i have always heard the SQ from 7998 is far ways ahead of 98xx series and any other Alpine MP3 player...

i also heard 7878 (top os line 2001, very rare to find) is up there with it in terms of SQ.. but 7998 has much more customizations which will probably make it sound better when tweaked

the question that remains unanswered is: Which has the best SQ, Eclipse cd8454 or Alpine CDA-7998? that seems to be a tough duel... im interested to buy one of them (not very soon thou lol)

has anyone ever heard both and compared? oh sorry to hijack this thread but it hink it's also another deck you should think about.... same kind and same price aswell

I'm not interested in Eclipse. Its a good brand and all that but I was just wonderinng about 9835 vs 7998. I'm not really itching to upgrade from the 9835 since its a good deck but I'm just curious if the 7998 brings anything new or better to the table.

how many of the 7998's did alpine make that HAD an internal amplifier? i know for sure i've pulled one out of a murcielago. was definitely a 7998 and definitely had an internal amp, because there was no other factory installed amplifier in the car (that would have required bypassing it )

^ 7998 only have preouts on it... 7897 had amplified outputs thou... you must be thinking of a 7897 i assume?

nope. was definitely a 7998. they might have made a special one for lamborghini or something, i dunno. it was the 'factory' radio.
