update on amp issue

As before, I had an issue where I hit the casing of my amp with a screwdriver when screwing down wires to the sub while the amp was on. Initially, I had terrible alternator noise and other noise even when car was off.

Today, I installed ground loop isolators. The guy who drives the taurus station wagon tried to explain how to ground the RCA but I am a visual only learner.

The GLIs helped a lot. Eliminated all noise except a popping sound when chaging sources. It does not happen when car is off and turning on, just when I change from CD to XM. I assume this is an RCA problem??

Am I going to have to break down and buying another head unit?

No, no damage is done to the speakers but it does get pretty annoying sometimes. I think maybe if the volume is turned up really loud it could do some damage but I never really go above 21 volume. Im pretty sure it could be either the deck or the rcas.

I suppose then tape it to keep it from falling off. I suppose use this in addition to the GLIs...(so many wires with so little space...)

Maybe a new head unit isn't so bad after all
