unlocking cell phones?

My g/f found a Motorola cell phone at work that has been sitting there for 2 months so she asked her boss if she could have it and she said yes. Bought a charger and turned it on and it was all in japanese. So she took it to the mall and had 1 of the employees switch it back to english. Its a nice *** phone, has a camera,video capable, and bluetooth. So she spent $16 on this like new phone (price of charger). I was wondering if anyone knew how to unlock it for different service providers?

both phones are SLVRs one is an L7 and one is an L6

The SLVR L7 has a curved LCD Lense at the top

the SLVR L6 has no memory card slot or itunes and has a Flat LCD Lense at the top..

it has a simcard right? does it need to be unlocked?

Read up on those forums, sometimes a firmware reflash is all it needs to be unlocked.
