Unit installed but no sound

My step dad just installed a pioneer deh-6700mp HU in his 94' Silverado and the unit seems to be functioning fine but there is no sound. I used to have this HU in my car and it worked perfectly but I ran off an external amplifier where he is just wanting to run off the internal amp. Everything seems to be wired correctly but still no sound. Can you guys help troubleshoot what he may have overlooked?

He took out the factory "amp". It was a little silver box under the dash which was the radio. I don't believe there were any wires that he was unsure of. He's installed many radios in the past and really knows more about this stuff than me. I'm just the messenger boy right now. Basically, it is wired up color for color, as the install manual says.

Its 1994 there is no external amps in that truck, they didnt start that untill 1999-2000 range in pick ups, does that head unit have a power amp off mode?? Some higher end JVCs have that, it shuts off the high power amp so there is no music, just your sub out!!

Sounds like he made a mistake when taking the wires from the old 'silver box' and reconnecting them to the HU.

You should try connecting any speaker with a direct run of wire to the HU to see if it works to rule out the HU as the fault. If the HU checks out then something is just wrong with the wiring. It may be easier to just install two new runs to each door.
