Uhm....SSA Icons?

Who has had experience with these subwoofers? I'm honestly between them and the 12" Fi Qs in terms of which subwoofers I am going to buy.

I haven't heard much of the SSA Icons besides the few posts praising them, the Fi Q's have a large following, I had a 15" one that I didn't have a very good experience with.

They both seemed to be aimed at SQL(Sound Quality + Ability to get loud). They both work great in sealed and ported enclosures. So this is all being powered by an AQ2200d which gives them both over 1000watts of power(which it is stated that is their recommended TPH). They're both going in a enclosure with dual chambers, sealed and approx 1.5-1.6ft^3 per chamber.

The SSA Icon is cheaper, has a triple stack magnet motor, and other things. Both should sound really loud, but which one do you think can outdo the other?

I don't have experience with either, though I was in the same boat as you not long ago before I removed both of them from the running due to cost/availability. I'd like to see more people try out the Icons cuz I've heard a lot of praise, like you said, but they're OOS right now and won't be back in for at least a month so I've heard.

Just get the Icons. They are built well and test well. You won't be disappointed.

Here is a post I made on another forum asking the same question....

I just swapped out my Q for an ICON earlier this week. And so far, I am liking it. To me, the difference between the two is very minimal. I think we all know the Fi products have a pretty good reputation. And with the ICONS being pretty new, it hasnt quite developed a widely known reputation, yet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

But saying the Q and ICON are very comparable, says a lot about SSA, in my opinion.

To me, it sounded like the ICON may have had just a little more low end, but I dont think it got quite as loud as the Q.

Both are extremely good drivers, and you really cant go wrong with whatever you choose.

I'm in the same boat as you, but i'm going with 3 12's. I was thinking the q's, icons, or the new mags. I also was thinking the ssd's because they are cheaper then both and i have heard good things about them.
