Now I know this is to the ear only but significant differences between the boxes

First box was a series tuned 6th order. 1 cube on the rear tuned about 39hz 2.35 on front side tuned to 48.22hz

Second box was a 6th order para. tuned to 40.7hz and 69hz for the splits and 2.35 on the 40.7 side and 1 cube for the 69 side

Third box was a 4th order 1 cube sealed and 2.35 cubes tuned to 48.22hz ... Just for fun give what you think would be the loudest and rank them in order . All was a type R 12 sub.

Some of you may notice the fact a lot of the sizes/tunes are the same. i designed this box to be converted many ways. i want to do a few test boxes before I built the big dog. But please take guesses. (sorry bored lol)I will give 1 hint. I was surprised. Wasn't the one I personally thought it would be... Now this doesn't prove which design is loudest. Just sub specific with this sub and this airspace. But I assure you MAJOR difference between the 3

2 out of those 3 designs suk major balls

out of all of them i would take the 4th order ...becuz it will sound the best and being that it has such a large front chamber it will be very efficient...and have better lowend response....the other 2 or just poorly designed 6th orders...the bandwidth is very small so its more of a 1note wonder...

6th orders tend to be the loudest. But how these will actually compare, in your vehicle, is anyone's guess.
no comparison needed...just look at the tuning...one has a huge front chamber tuned to close to the rear chamber frequency....and the other has a huge rear chamber but a small front chamber tuned to close to the rear chambers frequency

if he wanted 2 do a 6th order he should has done 1.5 cubes for the rear tuned to 32hz and the front chamber 1.85 tuned to 75hz

it wont be that much efficient but u can play music on it and it will sound a hell of alot better than wats being posted

I would never want in a peak in output from my substage at 75hz or anywhere near it. but otherwise I tend to agree with you 80. Except we can only guess as to how those freq responses would work in-car.

true in car frequency plays a big role in all this

i know with the 4th order box mentioned it will have the best results

Hmm these were test boxes only... And about the series you were correct. One note wonder. Now you couldn't have been more wrong about the para. It has the best range. decently flat from 38hz to 60hz.. But on top of the series being a one note wonder it was last on being loud so.... final result in my car .... FAILURE! the para nice musical response(for my taste) loud as hell . final result..... SUCCESS. 4th order. The range is a little less. I think when I do the main wall I will tune around 50 instead. This thing still loves the lows> But over all music.. Pretty happy. Output OMG. This one 12 is breaking my car lol. Sideview mirrors (the whole thing not just the glass) shakes pretty bad as well as many things on the car. I wish I had videos of this thing. And as far as pics go I dont' have a digital cam but you wouldn't want to see it is UGLY it was a universal box so I didn't make it too pretty. Now I realize that this may only be the loudest in this car with this airspace and this sub. I am not going to say this is a test to take to the bank. Really considering I don't have a meter. But I have heard a type R in a standard ported box and not even close... NOT AT ALL. but again could be my car so not going to say that is a fact.

I apologize but I disagree. First of shrinking the lower tuned chamber and dropping the tune would greatly reduce it's efficiency . then making the high tuned chamber tuned to 75 and enlarged would create a good peak. ANd have a hard spike around 75hz. output wise. maybe great I dunno. But I would have to say no. I would have to test to be sure but I just highly doubt this would be even half way flat. Prob would have a dip around 50 to 65hz as well

i think u have the wrong idea of tuning a 4th order...u cant tune it like u tune a regular ported box

as far as the 6th orders..im not sure wat kind of music u like but im a low end freak and 38hz as a roll off is not good...i bet its good for spl...but if ur flat from 38-60hz..thats all good .......in the lanes...but not for music unless u listen to jeezy and lil john

well in all actuallity...u dont have enuff space to do a 6thorder parallel or series

4th order is ur best best......the reason i shrunk the box becuz..i wanted to bring the low end..and i made the front chamber smaller to raise the frequency which will help in overall output and sound somewat decent...even thought the box is on the small side...heres the 64million dollar question.....if u looking for the loudest box..do u really care if u have peaks...if u looking for the loudest box u should be looking to see whhich box peak the highest not which one plays the flattest;)

I'm not surprised to see 80 here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
