OK guys I was just driving down the road listening to music at a moderatly loud volume nothing insane though. All of a sudden my sub out of no where goes insane with so much bass like something shorted out. It was like full blast test tone. I turned the radio down but the volume didnt go down the bass stayed loud. keep in mind the bass overpowered the music by alot.

I then turned the **** car off in the middle of the road and rolled to the side of the street. The bass stopped when the car was shut off. I waited a few went back to the back of the car. I pushed on my MT and it felt fine so I think the sub is OK. My orion 2500d was VERY hot and kind of had that "electricity" smell to it (the amp was only at 2.8 ohms)

I waited a few and turned it back on and everything played. I rode home with the radio off. I pulled the amp out to take it apart nothing looks burnt.

What the hell just happened?????

Thanks fellas

Speaker wire came loose and grounded to the amp chassis or the sheetmetal...?

Ive experienced a problem like this, check all of your connections its more than likely a short. This happened to me when my power line had a bad connection at the in-line fuse. It would short out and everything would just go crazy. Triple check all your connections!

actually there was a loose speaker wire out of the amp, but after I turned it back on after it happened I tried to actually touch the spkr wire to metal and nothing happened.

Weird. I know how you must've felt though. I almost shat myself when I blew my first fuse, I thought I blew my subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif.

That happened to me a Long time ago, don't remember how, but i know it scared the **** out of me. Actually, i think it happened a day or so before my kx800.2 blew. i pulled over, waited, then turned it on, and was fine, so i jest kept bumping, then 2 days later, it blew up on me. My advice: check EVERYTHING 4X!

I think I am pulling EVERYTHING out within the next few days and re-installing it. (I've been meaning to anyway).

As for now I took the amp out and pulled the fuse under the hood.

Anyone else have any ideas?

same thing happened to me when i had my old panasonic deck. exact same thing, the bass wont stop until the deck finally turns itself off after the car is off.

The sub pre outs must have been blown, because i tested my system with a new deck, and it worked fine. TEST YOUR DECK! I thought it was my amp, (SX1250.1) but luckily it wasn't.

I really hope that is not the case I just bought this **** radio

Hmm... RCA's grounded out? (The shielding of RCA's touch ground... possibly loose... or rubbing behind radio?
nG

that's what happened to me, while ago i just replaced my RCA's, it turned out one of them had worn through and grouded itself to sheet metal

scrared the crap outta me when i'd change songs and the same bass note would keep going.
