when i first bought my car, it came with a sony 10 disc changer under the rear seat. and i never used it. i later got my system installed by bestbuy (about 9 months ago) everything is fine.

i started un-installing my 10 disc today and everything went smoothly, then i got to the area around my head unit. I got all the wires out from my head unit, then there was the wires that came from the small box that connects to the 10 disc. there were 3 small wires. yellow, black, red. they all went into a harness and i couldnt efficiently pull them out, so i decided since im no longer using the 10-disc, why not just cut the wires. all they do is go to the small sony box so i didnt think they were necessary.

now my headunit is getting no power, and neather are my amps. Is this related to the red black and yellow wires, or is it something different. i made sure everything was plugged into the back of the headunit.

thanks for your time.

i dont get it though, they were connected to the sony box. why would those be connected to the sony box, and not my head unit. my head unit is a kenwood.

check the wiring to the hu itself, look for the red yellow and black wires to see if they were hooked up or tied in at all to the cd changer. Secondly if you did not tape anyhthing after doing the cutting or cut all 3 wires at the same time, or taped just didnt tape the live wires then there is a really good chance of a blown fuse or 2.

lets try to be helpful instead of spamming up my thread with uselss quotes. no one cares how high your post count is.

I highly doubt these wires could be the cause, cause they are on the small box linked to the sony 10 disc, its even labled "sony" and i dont have any sony components in my kenwood headunit besides the 10disc. these 3 small wires were linked into a harness, but thats all, from the sony box to the harness. i made sure i stripped the coating on a small area so i can easily soldier them together if needed.

wtf is your prob man? i was just agreeing with Moe...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif

do you have any pics? pics would be nice so we can help you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

dude you're ignorant. have you done anything anyone has suggested? we're saying go check something because that's the only cause, and you're ignoring us and flaming us for postcounts. you've spammed your own post up more than anyone else has so far, with "up"

go check the wires. if they are there (red, yellow, black) consider cutting them and running them each to their respective locations.

do it.

If you cut all the wires at the same time, you may have grounded a power wire in the process. I have done that before. Check your fuses.
what fuse would i be looking at? the one in the head unit is fine, should i check the car interior fuses, or would it only be the head unit fuse thats damaged.
