Two HDC3's, 12's or 15's? Copper or Alum?

So, I'm picking up two HDC3's here and I'm trying to decide whether A: to get copper coils or Aluminum and B: if I should go 12 or 15. Its going to be a pain in the *** to fit the 15's in there, but I can do it. I just dunno if its worth the extra effort lol. Opinions?

Also, I eventually want to be able to run a single AQ2200D on each of them. But is that possible if at first I want to run both off a single AQ2200D? Cuz they will be D2 to get to 1 ohm for the single amp. Then I wont be getting full potential when I drop to a single amp one each. Am I understanding that correctly?

No, 2 D2 subs on 1 amp will drop it down to 0.5 ohm load (unless wired in series, it'll be a 2 ohm load). You'll be just fine with 1 amp on each sub. If its too much of a hassle, then get the 12's and save you the trouble. Alum can handle more power but you wont need that unless you're gonna increase power some day so copper coils will do just fine with that amount of power. And dont worry, copper and alum sound the same, you wont sacrifice sq if u do decide to go aluminum. All the best

hmm can those 2200d's run at .5 ohms alright until i get two of them?

hows your electrical?

Redtop up front, yellow in the back. Stock alt. Thats for now. I'd add alt plus a second yellow for both amps.

What I'm looking at tho is those subs only come in D1 or D2 so they would have to run at .5 on one amp until I got the second amp to let em rock at 1 ohm a piece.

you could just run one sub untill you get both amps, if your worried about running it at .5
Well, I suppose. But that means my enclosure would have to have two individual sealed chambers. Blah. I guess I could wait til I had the cash to buy the second amp.

Or you can just run them at 2 ohms since the copper coils need to be broken in for 10 hours. They wont get crazy loud, but that should be enough power to loosen them up.

what?!?

now "copper" needs to be broken in?

transition metal #29 ? are we talking about the same thing?

3 questions:

what are you drinking?

how much does it cost ?

and where do you get it?

... I need some of that!

"The aluminum coil version is optimized for extreme duty and competition. It uses a different suspension and is hand built with American spiders and coil. It will also handle more power."

Well, I wonder if I should save an extra 200 bucks up for the alum versions for those upgrades? Hah he didn't really suggest either or. If I'm going to be sending 2200 watts tho to each, maybe its best to handle more power?

The alum coils are worth the upgrade. My alum coils handle amounts of power my copper coils could have only dreamed of.. Also like mentioned, the suspension is much stronger, and handbuilt in the usa..

If you only plan to run a 2200 to each sub then copper will be fine, but if you'll be abusing the shit out of them then I'd consider the alum coils. I ran 3k each to a pair of coppers for several months with no problems.

Cone area is king so "assuming" you can fit the 15's in 8+ cubes then I'd go with the 15's for sure.
