Two HDC3 15's vs TWO FI BL 15's?

What do you think guys? Obviously its half the power. But it would save a shit ton of money in batts and amps to run 2000 instead of 4000. Plus, you think the bl's will really sound better overall? Looking for lowend here.

I have experience with AQ's. I love em. Get pretty low tuned to 38hz as well. It really depends on what you want. I think the BLs will sound better, and the AQ's might get louder, however, thats all setup dependent.

the bls will for sure get lower. i have experience with both. one aq hdc315 on 3k vs 2 fi bl 15s on 3k wasnt even a comparison. the bls were better on the lows and louder overall. but it was double the cone area. i love the hdc3 thogh. if i had the power i would do teh hdc3's but if i only had around 2 to 3k i would do 2 bls

I've heard both fairly extensively, though in different cars.

Personally, I think the hdc3's get surprisingly low. They have this notion here that they have no low end, but I've found otherwise.

On that power, obviously the hdc3's will get quite a bit louder.

It really depends what you want; BL's will sound better, hdc3's will get louder, and the BL's will have a slightly better bottom end (but again, off that power both will have great lows).

And for reference, the BL's Iv'e heard were a 12" off 1200, and a 15" off 1500. The HDC3 was a 15" off 1800.

yeah I hear you. what about build quality? Fi vs AQ? eh I think it'll come down to saving money in batts/2nd amp by not going with 4kw

They're both built fairly well from my experiences, haven't had a problem with either companies subs.

Though, it is getting quite annoying how Fi seems to be so busy they are pretty much unreachable...I have been trying to get parts for my BTL for weeks now and can't even get a response to my emails. I want to order a recone too, but who knows how long it'll take to get that...

DJ on the other hand is very prompt from my experiences and is fairly active here on the boards.

hmm. what about running HDC3's off of 1200 rms a piece? Not enough juice?

AQ's will work fine off that power. Call DJ and talk to him if you have any doubts.

I've built a LOT of daily set ups using AQ subs and the SQ is very good. I run a 15" Q in the GF's car and the HDC has better SQ, not that the Q sounds bad.

If you want crazy lows with an HDC then tune to 35Hz and put it in 4.5cubes and you'll be happy...

why 2k vs 4k? the aqs will take more power sure, but not that much more.

i had an american bass vfl 200.1 @ .5 ohm on a pair of bl 15s in my explorer, so around 1800 watts each. they were fine, but i blew the amp up after a few months, was playing it hard through voltage drops. ran it on my crossfire vr2000d at 2 ohms, but it just wasnt the same. that shit slammed on the 200.1. vids //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif



can't really compare output head to head since my bls were 15s and facing the rear, while my hdc3s are 18s and face up with the port rearward, but i can compare power handling, and the fully loaded bl is fine up to 2k if you keep the power clean IMO. the aq, i put 2k on each one and have never smelled coil, i only had to recone the coppers because i was playing screwed gucci mane (196k mp3, not well recorded though, heavily clipped) and one started making noise at the extreme peaks of the excursion. i'd compare the power handling on the copper aq to the loaded bl.

So ur more satasfied with the AQ's? I know they are not SQ subs, but in terms of sounding good with tight, quick responce - and in terms of low end frequencies, like 29-38, which would u say was better?
