whats the difference between this and the 422i cable

I believe that cable only works with the "full speed" decks which I believe are the decks made in 2004+. I have a 9835 and that I think is the last year that you still needed this unit to connect the ipod. This unit also works, although not as effectively, on units as old as the 7996 and 7998.
