Funny thing about my take on vents, is that only relatively recently, since seeing some of these car audio sites, have I realized about car-audio vents. I believe it's because the boxes are so small and the idea is to have a certain frequency belt out, extra loud. Thats why the vents are like plumbing and you need a search team to find your way through.

Thats why I guess so many of you were coming from the word-works, with your factless foolishness about vents. This picture is of a Cerwin-Vega AT-15 box. You see the vent that is used and I know only maybe one person in here hasn't heard of CV.

So basically it's me and the rest of the big name manufacturers who are wrong and car audio SPL players are right. As we all know, audiophiles first started out crafting the worlds best 6x9's and then home audio/theater was an after thought. You guys should send emails to Cerwin, to let them know about your research in those books you were reading.

Notice that piece of tube in there? That is a properly designed tuned enclosure for that woofer. That CV speaker uses a woofer not a sub and is tuned just a bit higher than say a home theater setup would be. CV knows how to build a proper enclosure for their speakers. Hacking holes in a box is not properly tuning. Call CV and see what they say about tuning. Call Adire. Call any munfacturer of quality audio speakers, home or car, and ask them about the importance of tuning an enclosure correctly. You seem to think we don't know anything, see what the manufacturer has to say.

Hmm, well, it looks like you have done better on this box than on your last one. This box seems to be tuned to about 50 Hz, which would really be more suited to a competition box. This is much better than your previous 70 Hz tuning though. However, once again, as for 14 Hz being useable. . . I don't think so. You will have some room gain, but not ~30dB.

Are you honestly that naive? You truely think that only car audio boxes use ports? I suggest you do some research on Helmholtz Resonators and maybe even contact the technical support of such well-respected HT companies as SVS and Adire.

You say that the desire is to have a certain peak in frequency, but it is your box, in fact, that has a 12db peak above 50hz.

This is for a HT design, btw.......and look at that.....the first thing we see below the picture of the sub is a picture of a flared port........

Then there's the fact that they suggest port lengths of 8 3/8"-12".........

But I suppose now you're going to tell me that Dan Wiggins and David Hyre are wrong and "factless and foolish"............

what about bracing? That looks like a pretty big box and I don't see any evidence of bracing, I bet that thing has some serious drone to it

also, how do you seal the outlets, keep air from escaping, you do know that is very important

those poor subwoofers, they don't deserve to be put in a box like that, send them to me and I'll put them in a nice home, and I'll send you back some pyramid superblues or something

Proved my point, you people aren't true DIY'ers, you guys follow fashion. You people just follow what the cool guy does and says. You guys can't think for yourselves. If the highest post person in here said that 6" woofers are the next killer subs, you'd all ride his wave like a jet ski.

That is an illogical statement about the CV not being a sub. Do you know what a sub driver is. Do you realize that, the box is tuned to 28Hz, according to CV. How can a woofer playing down to 28Hz, not be a sub. That fact is, because my name isn't Cerwin Vega, my vents aren't cool.

So as long as a commercial company does it, it's ok, but if not, then you people fly out of the works. That thousand dollar (at the time) CV box setup, had nothing more than the same tubes I use, yet I don't see you guys dissing the Vega. I'm actually shocked, I was expecting you guys to say me and Cerwin are in the same boat of the lack of highway-tunnel vents.

Now I know the truth, thats why I got the idea and remembered to post those pictures. I was expecting a lash-out against it. So you people are just commercial riders. Just like the one man, who comes up with a graph of my box and doesn't even know the dimensions. Yet all of you believe his stats. Plain silly followers and claim to be experts. Most of you are nothing more than followers, who don't have any audio components, and just say yes to the highest post count players.

Thats why most of you don't post pics of your set-ups, you don't have none. No facts, no proof, no pictures. You people is just some sad -internet kids, in a poorly moderated forum, talking -yang- about what you don't have. People who live in the United States, that never heard the term -mang-. That is extra sad.

That CV box is built perfectly to THAT drivers specs...would you like to say the same about your box and your Tumults? That speaker on the Vega is most likely not meant to hit 140 Db's at 40 HZ...if you bult a proper enclosure for your tumults you could do that no prob. I hope you blow your tumults by playing below the tuning freaquency of the crappy box you built. You always talk about how you get a "usable" 14 hz freaquency. Well, if that's what you're going for, why not make a box that could do that with some efficiency? The bottom line is that you have some of the best subs available, and you put them in a crappy box...the driver is just made well enough that it can overcome your incompetence. You have to be smarter than the subs.

My point is so well proven with facts, that DBF just said his usual incoherent, non-funny comments. Then there is the guy who seems to dream about the number 14, more than he thinks about girls.

That was a good comment about eastern Canada mang. When you don't have facts, just diss the other coast of your own Country, even though you know the main city of Canada is in the East.

Fact is, that Cerwin Vega box, was a thousand dollar waste of money, with the same vent I'm using, yet your so proud of Cerwin Vega and don't even own it. Your so jealous of my Tumult setup, that you can't even see the hipocracy your creating for yourself. You have yet to show any pictures of anything that is better than what I have, yet you talk garbage like it's your home.

Kids asking everyday about this sub vs that sub and you would rather put down a thread that shows pictures. Foolish children, It would be nice if you guys and your Canadian brain washed, sellouts could atleast come up with funny comments. Basically this forum is just an over-crowded mess-hall of children, with dreams of owning even a pyramid 6x9, but can't.

You have given ZERO facts. None. All you have done is show pictures of an improperly built box.

 

I provided you with a link to a pdf file that shows you recommended box designs from the same company who sells your preciousl tumults and they include port LENGHTS. Those are my facts, buddy. Where are yours?

 

Actually, I think I'll send Adire an email and ask them for box recommendations for the most LFE from a Tumult. I guarantee that they'll be nothing like yours.........
