Please excuse my ignorance if this has been covered before.

I did a search, but it just got me more confused. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

I'm a newbie to both this forum and to car audio systems.

I have an high end Pioneer head unit with a stock speakers in a convertible.

(yea, I know, stock speakers ****) I've added a Alpine MRP 500 for the sub, now my 12" went south. I'm in the mood for a couple 10's or a 15.

The question is, which choice is better for my music taste. I listen to mostly blues with a heavy base and strong drums. (think Stevie Ray Vaughn)

I'm not looking to shake any windows or impress any high school girls, just want the cleanest, clearest base I can get without sounding muddy.

Thanks for your opinions.

it mostly depends on the space you have available, budget, and so on. you can get something like a dd 8" and be louder and cleaner than some people with a 15. just do a bit more research, maybe give us more info on type of car and type of enclosure you want. that would help out too

It's a PT Bruiser Convertible. Which means it has almost no trunk.

A 15 box would take up most of it, Which is why I was considering a low wide box with 10's, or 8's if it would sound good.

I'd like to keep it around $200/250 if that's realistic. My hopes are to match up well with the amp.

thanks

if you want a good sounding 10 with some bass, you should try out a 10 inch jl audio w7, they're a bit pricey if you get em from a website or from a car audio store, but you can usually find one on here in the 220-250 range + shipping. Put it in a nice ported box and that should do the trick. I have a 10w7 in my car now and its real clear and enough bass. You have a fairly small car, so that should work well. There are others but the 10w7 is a nice clear sub.

i would suggest a dd 2510, they can easiealy take 1k daily and have very good sound quality. new, shiped from dd, they are about $230ish. and if you ever decide that you want to rattle some windows, it can do that well also.
