Tweeters - Probably Dumb

Like the topic says... probly a dumb question but here goes anyway.... I am dumb when it comes to car audio. I have a 72 chevy truck with 6x9s in the door, 6.5s in a box in between the seat on top of a 10" sub in a box.

Right now the 6.5s and 6x9s are running off the HU (pioneer deh-7200). They take 120 watts rms each and I want to push them with an amp. Question is.... I want more highs in my music, so I was looking for some tweeters. Can I run 4 tweeters off my HU (22 x4rms) since I will have no speakers hooked up to the HU?

I searched here a bit and seen some stuff about bass blockers and crossovers, will I need them IF its possible to run tweets off my HU?

Yes you can do this. You will need crossovers to run the tweeters off of your headunit. Some tweeters come with them standard. Your bettter off in this case replacing your 6x9" speakers with a much better sounding set of component speakers. I would recommend the MB Quart line with the pure titanium tweeters (seems as though you like top end). This way the tweeter can be mounted up high in the door or forward on the dash and the all important mid can be mounted in the 6x9" hole in the door. If you are going to be buying new tweeters anyways, this might be something to consider on the path to better sound.

If I go with the option of going with a comp set, What should I do with the 4 speaker leads off the HU? Just cap them? I am not really concerned with show quality sound but more a "loud" sound. I want it to be loud and crisp. I have a set of MBs here but they just werent "loud" enough for me, the bass just totally drowned them out.

The amp I'm looking at pushes 100x4 rms, can you recommend some good loud 6.5s that will take 100 watts? Before I bridged my amp for a sub, I was running my audiobahn as69q's with 175 watts rms and it was pretty loud, just lacking the really high highs. Problem is when I turn it up to where the highs meet what I want, the words get a little muffled.
