tweeters going into protection mode?

heres my setup...

the front are helix precision H236 with a extra H236 mid-driver.

thats 12" of midd-bass up front & in the rear.

placed in the front doors, with the tweeter above & the other placed in my bmw`s stock kick well locations.

heres my rear fill, i have used the exact same speaker equiptment as used in the front sound-stage.

but for some reason my front tweeters cut out once i turn the volume up to realy loud!

i mean, itll play for at least 5 mins & then all of a sudden they will just cut out?

there is no sound distortion when i play at the volume eather, so who are my front tweets cutting out? & what can i do to stop it happening?

the rear tweeters still play when turned to the same volume, so i just carnt seem to figure it out.

oh yes, the exact same thing.

precision H236 6.5" with the extra mid-driver.

a set was just the xovers with driver & tweeter, but my install guy got me the extra driver for the front & rear.

Your crossover includes a circuit that cuts the tweeter when a certain temperature has been reached. Youe are over driving your set.

Solutions include:

The crossover has a circuit that cuts the power to the tweeters when a certain power level is reached to avoid damaging them.

You are either clipping your amp, or simply overdriving the speakers.

I beleive it is a protection circuit...It just puzzles me why the rears keep playing...my guess the rear tweets may be wired to the 3db down since they are for fill so the clipping isn't effecting them....

Mmmm, well my gains are quite low, prob just over a quater, i even think i have them a little to low, as the volume on my stereo turns up to more than 80% prob more like 92%

mabe this could be the cause.

ill have to have a play again. but thanks for the info.

the tweets are wired the same on the x-overs.
