I was wondering if anyone knows anything about turntables? I have exactly zero knowledge about them but I was offered.....a board(no idea what i'm talking about)? I am wondering what is all involved to have a setup? I have a feeling I will be paying up the a$$ for the parts but I am very interested. Is there a interent site that sells the stuff?

Any help would be awesome! Think of explaining this to me like explaning driving a car to a kindergraden, because I know nothing about it.

r u planning to use a TT t olisten to music or to DJ? i have two technics 1200 mk2's and an ecler HAK 320 battle mixer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I used to DJ. By setup what do you mean? tables? mixer? etc?
umm........yeah I really do not know too much. Is there a site that will explain the dj world. I would like to get a new hobby and I think this would be sweet. I think it would be cool to just go over to a house party and play some tracks. I looked at the website and i like the cd mp3 playable disc tables. I was just wondering what I all need to have, to be able to play at house parties. Just something to start off with and see what I can learn.

Sorry for lack of knowledge, but thanks for all the help guys

i have an sl-1200mkII aswell...They are sweet..I agree with asking JimJ. He knows his stuff //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

youcan do the same with a downloaded program like OzWerx or Oz Works... cant remember the name exactly...

As long as you have two sources to play from ... like your HD and an external HD... you can load up and DJ till your hearts content with just a p/c (I use my laptop) Course...the sound will need to be fed through pre-amp and amp and pa speakers etc... but it's easy..... I do weddings, barbeques, birthday parties.... not up to par with clubbing tho'! LOL!

so u wanna setup so u can mix at parties? or r u battle-orientated like me and want to scratch and juggle and rip shit up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif?! regardless, you definitely can't go wrong with a pair of Technics 1200s (got mine used for 500 for both).. they are the "industry standard".. u cant go wrong with some vestax turntables for scratching. as for the mixer you dont have to go all out.. u can look into the stanton mixers maybe a stanton sa-3. quality high-end mixers include Rane, Vestax, and Ecler. Rane being the ultimate and it comes down to preference between the vestax and an ecler HAK series. vestax is the most common of mixers but Ecler makes some sweet mixers and the Ecler HAK 360 is the standard for DMC final competitions. if youre going to do some heavy scratching you cant go wrong with a pair of Shure m44-7 cartridges/needles. some ortofons or stanton trackmasters are ok for mixing. also, if you wanna budget turntable the numark TTX series are suppose to be good for the price. hope this helps some.
