Will this generate better low frequency sound??? If I turn the filter off, the SSF turns off also. Since my sub is sealed, will this sound better? Also will this allow voices and such to come thru on my sub??? Should I just leave the LP filter on then? Its set at 80Hz with no adjustment available.

Didnt know the best place to post this.

First off toss the stock head unit for one that is going to have all your adjustments needed. If that is not a option look into a audio control epicenter this is just a inline Xover and you will be able to tune the sub to most any freq u want. Keep the LP on unless you want sound to come out becasue it will if you leave it off, this is what you want your componets to do is play the sound where all you want out of the sub is SPL. You want to throw about 200-250 RMS at that sub in a 3.7-3.8 cu in sealed box tune it to 23-24 Hz at it will perform its best in that atmosphere, now I am sure you amp is not capable of that low of hz adjustment hence the need for a head unit of inline Xover.

are your talking about tuning his filter to 23-24 herts?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

hmmm, that epicenter is just a really expensive crossover eh? and you cant tune a sub to a frequency, you can only tune a box to a certain frequency. and 23 htz is way to low. since you already have a sealed box dont use the ssf at all and keep your low pass at around 80 hz. you can play around with it a bit to see which sounds best to you. what the epicenter really does is add in low bass to songs, there is a review of one in the reviews section.

anything much below 30 is too low, i would not set it below 28

Ok first off I said this as to if he did want to port tune a box sorry I did NOT specify i meant ported but put sealed misprint my bad! Secondly 23 hz wayy to low in a ported box? Well I have owned more Jl audio componets than you have laid your eyes on I think I know what I am talking about when I SAY if you want the box ported tune it to 23-24 hz this sub is not your average base model it can play that low and sound good doing it too. And your telling me there is know difference between a epicenter and a knock off X over? Give me a break youngin do your homework. Most knock offs have trouble going lower or do not even have the option of below 40hz, it does in its sense add bass but not just in lower in all sound levels there is a reason audio control put a patent on thier product it has higher quailty components yada yada I could go on and on if you want to argue lets do it sorry for the misprint I was typin in a hurry and basically was one of the founders of this forum so dont insult me for a misprint.

lol i wasnt trying to be mean just didnt understand your post

but your are probably right about JL subs tho

i live in an small town and few ppl have system doing over 125db. if your break 125bd here thats something

actually, you just totally misread what i typed. if he wanted a crossover, why pay extra for the epicenter if he doesnt what its main function, adding low bass. and 23-24hz is not practical for a daily driver as most songs dont go near that low. and also your saying put a 12" sub in a 4 cube box sealed and give it twice its rms?
