Turbo or engine swap?

Don't drive like an *** and put it in neutral going down hills/coming to stops/whenever you don't need to use the gas pedal?

I accelerate like a grandma. My friends call me an old woman whenever we go anywhere. The only time I don't is when I know I can swipe my mums gas card for a quick fillup, from E.

deng, 20 with a 2.0L? i get about 28-30 MPG in my 1.8T...thats crazy.

as for the other stuff, i would rock out with a turbo. it really depends on what you want. the turbo will give you a more sporty feel vs. the SC feeling more smooth. the turbo can be more tunable, upgradable, and modded. as for the supercharger, you will be running about the power you would in a VR6 with maybe intake and exhaust if that. the only upgrades you can really do on a SC is a lighter smaller pulley, exhaust, intake, maybe megasquirt...theres not much to it, depends on where you want to go.

yea, thats what i said..

but apparantly there are 3 revisions of my engine, and i got the shitty one... no worries because it will be out soon

What do you guys think about the EIP tuning stage 2 kit? Moves whp from ~93 to >155. I'd also toss in a cold air intake and high-flow cat (or busted out cat) and try and find a non-ricey exhaust.

Would the $500 more stage 2 kit be worth the extra cash?

I'd probably also add upper and lower stiffiening bars because what's powoer if you can't speed around bends... Also probably sport suspension...

All of this is provided he can get the kit through school.

then you'd be reaching peak, and only getting around the level of a 1.8t, do the swap man, actually it would probably be easier/cheaper to trade upto a GLX or something... that what i'd do, then mod that

honestly, i agree with him completely. this is what i did. i had a mk3 jetta 2.0, which was quick, and a lil quicker than most of the mk4 cuz they are heavier. i had and exhaust, intake, computer chip. if you really want to have a good amount of power, sell and get a GLX or 1.8T. if not, turbo it with either the ATP or EIP kits, both are good from what i hear. but ive only seen the ATP on a local 2.0. then you can run with stock GLX/1.8T if you can drive, they will be about equal. same with the SC, cept the sc isnt upgradable, but is less maintainence. it might be cheaper to sell and get a new car with a new motor unless you have a nice exterior/interior setup that you really like. a chipped 1.8T is mighty fast. and a SC'ed vr6 is faster, it just depends where you want to go. make sure you decide that before you you around spending a bunch of money.

Meh, I'm really happy with it and it's only a couple of months old - to me. Maybe I'll just keep it the way it is. I just got told he can't get any performance parts anyway. Perhaps just do some suspensions stuff to make it handle better, better suspension and ~1" drop, sway bars, etc.

man, lowering your car will be the best thing you ever did. i loved my old 2.0, i acually miss it quite a bit over the new 1.8T. it was lowered 2.5 inchesF and 1.75 rear...there was less than a fingers gap. lower it, you will be happy, add on an exhaust system, and a CAI. then from there, you can decide wether you want to turbo/SC it or not. i was going to do a SC, cuz its easier to maintain, just slap it on and go, the turbo needs tuning and such. if you got any questions im sure i can try and help you. also check out the vwvortex.com forums if you havent, oodles of info.
