Tungsten Carbide ALMOST indestructible

I got a Tungsten Carbide ring as my wedding band because they are cheap and pretty much indestructible. Check out vids of people beating the crap out of them without a scratch. I have, however, found a weakness: lots of electricity.

I was taking the neg terminal off my bat with an alan wrench when my ring made contact with a ring terminal on pos. Big flash from ring, small pieces blew off, several words, and the fattest blister I've ever had were the results. Thankfully nothing on the car was damaged.

/cool story

thats what is used in light bulbs.... and what happens if you have a finger injury and your finger swells up... they have to cut the finger because they cant cut the ring... IMO stupid choice for a ring metal

No, they can cut the ring. Talked to a doctor and asked him, he said they have cutters for them.
I just watched a video that said most hospitals have to 'explode' the ring off, or put it under pressure to the point where it fragments with the use of vice grips.

Look up: "Dangerous Metals: The Truth About Tungsten And Cobalt Wedding Bands" on YouTube. Not saying I agree with what they're claiming, I'm just giving what I've seen. I personally think the video is totally stupid.

Yes, one of the ways they are removed is by cracking them with vice grips. Here's a quote from a jewelry site: "When we contacted our local hospital emergency room and asked if they were equipped to remove tungsten wedding bands in an emergency, they told us that most hospital emergency rooms are prepared to handle almost anything, and assured us that it would be no problem for them."

I've asked doctors myself. They are great rings, never scratch, never tarnish, almost indestructible, and inexpensive. Just keep them away from battery terminals, lol.

Will get some up in a bit, the blister is half size now as it happened 3 days ago but the ring still bares the marks. My wife is a former electrician and didn't think too highly of me at the time.

I had one as my band too. I used to take it off, stomp on it, drag it across concrete just to show people it would come up without a scratch. Beast metal. Lol.

I work in an industrial environment and verified that emergency rooms are in fact equipped to remove these rings in an emergency.

I have bought a few tungsten-tipped router bits, so far I have not found them any more durable than the 'normal' bits I buy.

The next purchase I make for router bits will be White Side Bits...I have heard VERY good reviews.
