Tuned it all up

Alright guys but he said he would probably do a trade for that SPL back and my old Sony Hu he said he has to look at that but would proably do it im not sure for what though but this is at like at a place by me so explain to me what i need to be lookn for so i don't get ripped off please???

 
ok springy so the directed1200 would power those subs fine them wire em up parrell at a 2 ohm load would that work 4 guage power cable and ground and get a 80 amp fuse would that work?

I don't see why not.

If they are Dual 4 ohm then take one subwoofer.

Wire it up both voice coils so that it is now a 2 ohm sub.....now do the same to the other sub.

Now put your subs in the box and wire up to the amp for a 1 ohm load.

Don't worry if your box has a terminal cup for each subwoofer.Attach some 10 or 12 guage speaker wire to each terminal cups ports (+ and -),now take the + speaker wire you just connected to each terminal cup and wire them to the amps + speaker terminal,then take each - speaker wire and wire them to the amps - speaker terminal...voilla 1 ohm load.

With impedence rise I would say you'll be safe,just set the gains properly.

Installation and all:

Go to your HU and make sure that the bass,trebble,fader and ballance ar all centered.Turn off all EQ settings (Rock,Pop,Jazz,Custom etc etc) on the HU.

Now with just your mid/highs installed play some music and start to turn the volume up,once you have reached a volume that the speakers start to distort abck off the volume just a tad until there is no more distortion,this is your max unclipped volume,write it down and use it to se your gains.

Ok place the amp in the car all wired up with it's power wires and ground cable and remote turn on and all gain knobs (gain/level,bass bosst,SSF) turned to minimum setting.Turn the car on and turn the HU on and put in a cd that has a 50 Hz 0db test tone on it and set the track to repeat then turn the volume up to the max unclipped volume.

Now using a DMM set to AC volts we go to the amp and and place the + probe of the DMM in the in the + speaker terminal of the amp and the - probe of the DMM in the - speaker terminal on the amp.

Now use a screwdriver (flat head) and slowly turn the gain knob up until you read 50 volts AC.

Go back to the car and lower the volume and turn the car off.

Wire the subwoofers to the amp as stated earlier in this reply.

Now if it's a ported box we need to know the boxes tuning so we can set the SSF so the subs don't over excurt when playing below box tuning frequency.

Once we know the boxes tuning frequency we use the formula Box Tuning * .75 = SSF setting.

For example we'll use my box which is tuned to 35Hz. 35 Hz * .75 = 26.25Hz

So I get a cd that has a 26 Hz or 27Hz 0db test tone on it and I set the track to repeat and on low volume as not to hurt the subs while setting.Go to the trunk and amp and turn the SSF knob up until that frequncy is either very low volume or in-audible.

Never use the bass bosst,I don't care if it is only turned 1/8th to 1/4 of the way up...don't do it.

Most Bass Boosts aren't even a bass boost they are gain controlers.
