tune to sub or tune to components?

[noob with an RS 10+ year member]

should i adjust the crossover point on the amp that is powering my components to the lowest the components can go without distorting and then match the sub x-over to it? or should i adjust the crossover points on my sub to deliver the sub-bass i want FIRST and then match the components to picc up where the sub left off?
