Does anyone know if there is any truth behind the myth that a subwoofer would blow out a sunroof? i'm looking at gettin a sub but the car has a power sunroof in it, is this bad? give me any insights you have

It could happen, but if you are just gettin a daily driver sub and have it in a sealed box you will be fine.

I don't know about blowing it out, but I have a moon roof...and with my old subs I broke the seal on the outside of the car so a little water leaks in sometimes. My suggestion is to leave it cracked open

saw a guy blowout his rear trunk lid completely, was running something near 2500wrms on two subs..

the guy said it was because his box was tuned to 72hz and therefore had a lot of pressure...

I didnt see it while it happened, when i got there the lid was already off and laying on the ground while the car was still bouncing

ya just to add to that i have a sunroof as well. No Problems. Things u gota worry about with subs are the annoying rattles or the **** rear view mirror shaking itself downwards

3 cars w/sunroofs or moonroofs, never had a single problem w/my 3 8's.

i have not seen any problems with sun roofs, i have however seen a car with a t-top flex so much that the windows dropped right down and shattered. was very cool, no one was sitting in the car when it happened.

uhh well its pretty much a myth...i guess if you were die hard spl, like a CRX with no back seats and a huge box with like 2 CV stroker 18's and basically hauling a power plant on a trailer behind you....then no....my friend has 2 Lanzar 12's on a 400 watt amp in an Intrepid, which seems low but it gets louder than you would expect, and his sunroof is still there. Another has a Blazer with a sunroof, 2 L7's with 2400 watt goin to them...no problems there...another, a Cavalier with a sunroof, and 2 L7's with loads of power goin to them....i am almost sure it was like a DB 1100 to each or a JBL 1200 to each....i dont remember...but there was no damage there either....so yeah its not really possible
