what part(s) rattles exactly?
i'm assuming a lot of it comes from the trunk lid and lic. plate? if so here are some easy steps to solve those problems.
Plate:
- make sure you have 4 screws holding your lic. plate on. you would be surprised how few times this is done and how much it helps.
- Put at least 1 layer, if not up to three, of dynamat or the like behind the plate and screw down as tightly as possible.
Trunk lid:
- a lot of people use multiple layers of dynamat to solve the rattles but I have a method that IMO works a lot better. go to wal-mart to the pillow section and buy some of the egg carton mattresses. Once you have one or two of those tear them up into little pieces, not at once cause you will get the hang of the process in a short time, and start cramming them into the hollow crevices of the trunk lid. For this i've learned an allen wrench works well. after you get it packed to your satisfaction, which basicly is once it is hard as a rock or you get tired of it haha, THEN put a layer of deadener on the trunk lid.
after these are both done you may or may not hear more rattles, but at the same time they will be a lot quieter. This is a common thing with deadening, now that you have gotten rid of the major rattles, what those used to drown out are now audible and you just need to pinpoint and spot deaden for those.
by the way, alternatives to dynamat are:
