Trunk Enclosure Input

I going to start a new build with the subs and port firing into the cabin with the trunk sealed off! I want to hear from some people that have done this. I am wondering how it will sound as opposed to subs and port rear firing at the back of the trunk.

Front firing may gain or may lose, depends on the vehicle. Sealing it off doesn't necessarily make it louder either. General rule is rear firing has better low end response, but front firing is louder. This is just a general rule though.

When i faced my sub forward in my old car and sealed it off, it sounded alot cleaner and tighter.. the lows kinda lacked but they werent completly gone..it sounded a little better mid/high bass, but facing back made the car rumble

I've been running front fired/sealed off for several years now with a few diff set ups. Currently a single 18 on 7kw. Lower end will drop off some since the wave has less distance to travel, but sound is also tighter/punchier. That has been my experience at least.

Also for metering I'm louder with it not sealed off, at least when metering in the kick. Haven't had time to meter sealed up yet.

I like it solely because it eliminates a ton of rattle in my car. My trunk is very well deadened too. I think that it sounds much better, but probably suffers on the low end a bit. This is all in MY vehicle with my setup though.

Subs forward port to driver side.
How many loud trunk cars at World Finals were set up like that????

I've give you a clue, the number is less then 1.

I've seen cars with subs forward/port side, but all of the world record holders are subs/port forward and NOT sealed off...

Burp or music setups?
