true price of audio

you could make an estimate. think a type r from BB cost about 200. cost is about 90 for them. so might cost alpine 30 to make the speaker. unless their is a middle man. then the middle man buys from alpine at about 50 and it probably costs alpine 15-20.

but then you have to think that they paid for the mechines that are building everything so in the end it cost them a lot more than 30 bucks to make a speaker.

we need to high jack a 18wheeler carrying fresh manufactured amps and subsand sell for 100 a piece every item
sounds like the plot of a F&F movie //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i dont think it was very vague,
i was just seein if anyone has a real answer that they know for a fact,

cuz i would guess a alpne type r would cost about 40 bucks to make

and like a treo csx cost like 90 to make

maybe im way off
The question is vague, and I'll tell you why.
First, at what point in the sales chain are we discussing 'mark up'? At the distributor level? The local brick n mortar shop? Internet prices? Or are you simply asking us what the total manufacturing cost for a Type R is?

If you question pertains to manufacturing cost, do you really want to get into a discussion about the value of the Dollar versus the Yen?

Look at ebay prices for BNIB from un-authorized dealers. That will likely be close to actual dealer cost. Compare that to MSRP and you'll get ann idea what your local shops are marking up. Other than that... manufacturing costs? That's a very detailed discussion that would also need to include how proprietary the speaker in question is (proprietary basket versus standard 12-spoke, for example), where its made, assembled, etc.

Asking 'how much mark up is there in car audio' is about as specific as asking 'how much mark up is there in automobiles'.... uh, you tell me.

And this is all ignoring the fact that most manufacturers do not like to disclose manufacturing costs to the general public, for obvious reasons.

To properly address your question we need you to be specific lol.

or atleast audioholic does //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

He didn't give you a simple answer because there isn't one. And you have to understand that markup is honestly something you should just deal with. Because look at your everyday shop, yes the stuff is expensive and it makes it look like you are getting *****, but you have to understand the cost of running a shop. You have a possible mortgage, utilities, employees, insurance, etc. There can be alot of overhead for a shop and the owner prices his stock accordingly. I know a shop here in evansville sits in a expensive piece of land, but gets alot of traffic. It's not big but the overhead of running the shop and the price of rent is what kills them. On the upside, they get alot of business for being where they are. So please before asking a question like "how much of a markup is there" think about all the factors into the markup.

?

okay....

i wanted to c if large subs we pay400 dollars for cost like 80 dollars to make,

i wasnt tryin to hate on paying huge prices and i wasnt lookn for xtremely close answers or xtremely precise,

and if anyone had any true facts they knew bout it, they could say,

bassicaly if u work in a sweat shop and u know how much it costs to put a sub together,, spill the beans

manufacturers generally dont like discussing their costs in making products.

Retailers dont like discussing their markup to the customer.

Manufacturers pay for engineer design, tooling of baskets and other parts, Machinery to make parts, and sometimes patents and certifications such as CE.

This can all add up to tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. This cost all gets factored into the price that the manufacture sells to their master distributor.

So the cost of what something is to make is not accurate if you are only figuring in raw materials.

Then the master distributor usually sells to the retailer. then they sell to you.

Wow a Treo CSX, way off there my friend. I would say you are probably in the right area for the Type R.
