Anyone dealt with these amps? Know anyone with them? Curious to hear comments about them. I've seen they are relatively new, Car Audio Mag did a review on one of them and had some pretty high praise, even with the steep price tag.

very nice amps, but they have been out for a few years now and are really not that new.

They've been out since like 2000. Not really new, there were alot of threads about them a while back because they claimed all the amps were made in the USA but people found out the amps were actually made by a company in Korea, the newer models released (2005-now?) are suppose to be actually made in the US. The boards are from colorado and than all the components and the amp is put together in california. The amplifiers themselves are very good and are considered high class. I ran one for a little while but switched to Zed Audio built amps and I'll never look back.

Right. To me that's kinda new. Comparing them to long standing brands like Rockford, MTX, Zapco, etc. My bad.

i liked tru alot better when john yi wasnt in charge... john fairchild was a much better man.

john yi was always rude and should have been a behind the scenes business man, he didnt really know how to deal with customers. then their was his wife who answered the phones, who (from all my experiences) could barely speak english. and then if you got a hold of fairchild, he would hold a conversation with you for hours lol. he actually congratulated me on breaking one of his amps one time lol.

I've never used their amps but I remember an article in an old Caraudio mag, I blieve it was an 02-03 issue were they did a blind test with them and a few others. Seeing if people could really tell a difference in how the speakers they were powering sounded.

Wasn't John Yi was always "in charge" there ? I was always under the impression he was the President of the company (and unfortunately the PR man, which most times didn't work out in his or his company's favor) & Fairchild was "just" the Engineer.

john fairchild was a much better man.

Even in passing he always will be the better man.

Anyways....there's been a fair bit of controversy surrounding the company, though most of that has died down a bit here recently (probably because Yi hasn't been active on many, if any, forums to repeatedly put his foot in his mouth). Really, there isn't much talk of their newer products. I believe there were some complaints of the Bullit series having some heat issues, but I think the last I heard the company had worked the kinks out of that issue.

I can't say I'd ever really recommend them, though, given the way Yi has acted in the past. But that's completely unrelated to their product quality/etc.

at a comp a few weeks ago a guy had 2 sledge hammers on 8 12" idmax's, sealed enclosure of course... barely pulled off a 145. on tha TL. and he continued to tell me how he couldnt do any better because the amps kept going into protect because there not suposed to be fed more than 1 volt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

i came to the conclusion that the guy has more money than he has sense...
