Transmission?

I have a '95 altima gxe //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif and it's seems to me that my transmission is going out, however I am not sure it if it is the ****** or another componet. Every now and then the car will drive fine... for like 2-3 days in a row. The rest of the time my car won't shift gears/late shifts. It will kinda try to shift gears, but it will stay "between" gears and just revs up then it kicks into gear like 10 seconds later. It's an automatic, and has like 240,000 miles on it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

What has me confused it that it works fine every now and then, then a day or two later it runs like shit. I don't know if it is the transmission itself or the TCM or torque convertor or something.

I checked the fluid, seems to be up to level. I ran it dry once //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif but not long.

What ya guys think. Iam going tomorrow to look for parts, don't wanna buy a transmission and still have the same problems.

theres a chane you might have a problem in the shift solenoids, its worth checking to avoid unnecessary costs, and look into ways to test the control module outputs, there should be a pinout available somewhere but with that kind of mileage and the once ran dry symptom, i'd really be looking towards burnt clutches and possibly worn planetary gearsets.. once you elimate electrical control errors its pretty much time to tear it apart, and you wont know the full extent of conditions until you get in there and take a look.

best bet is just to have a transmission shop look at it---could be something as cheap/simple as the ****** filter or as costly as a rebuild.
yep definatly do that and dont mess around buying other things mine would do it every blue moon like your car does like a year ago put it on the machine and nothing so lately it started acting up more so i just guessed it was the mass air flow changed it and nothing guessed maybe the iac and nothing again. so i was about to drop the ****** when the check engine light comes on so i decide f it im taking it to aamco they checked it out it was only the tps 60$ man oh man was i glad!!! not really that it was cheap just that they found the problem wich i or my other mechanic couldnt find for over a year.

mine does that same thing, but only on really cold days, when the engines isnt very warm
Thats how mine usually is. I am waiting to see when it warms up.

I don't have transmission shops around here, just a bunch of crooked mechanics that just will do anything to pwn you. I will probably just get a used transmission with low miles since I plan on buying a new car when in august. Wonder if the shift solenoids and stuff come with the ******?

most likely a used ***** will be just a core and not electronics but ask whoever you're buying from, it may vary by whos doing the selling.

since your an audio guy i'd bet you have some electrical capabilities, honestly if you find a couple specs for any of the elec. components, a simple dmm will go a long way... i'll see if i can still get logged into alldata, if i can i will try to get some specs and/or test procedures

I will probably go to a salvage yard and rip a ****** up out of another car. My dad said that some junkyards will take the ****** out of the car you want and put it in yours for free, just pay for the ******. I doubt I will find someone who will do that tho //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
