I live in california, a lil area no one has heard of, ANYWAYS i was driving and i came up to a intersection where there was a crosswalk. i was going to make a right turn and i stopped before the line and then inched my way up and over the line because you can't see far to the left because there is a building in the way so you cant see fast coming traffic. then from the same direction a motorcycle cop comes and CLAIMS that see saw me come up to the intersection fast and stop over the limit line. which is the same as running a red light according to him. He didn't even see the whole thing, he came up and i was moving over the limit line. Do you think i could fight this? or is it not even worth my time. He said its gonna be a min. of $341!!! The cop didnt even ask for my insurance. and didnt tell me what it was for until i asked him after he gave it to me.

yeah you can fight it .. if you say you cant see because of those buildings .. take some pictures and stuff .. its so easy to get cases dismissed in Canada. i dont know about california though ..

thats what the cop says it is. But i didnt run a red light. All i did was come up to the intersection, stop, inch up across the line so i can see on coming traffic from the left better because you cant see because of a wall and building on the corner to the left. My ticket says red light violation, but its technically crossing the limit line. because i did stop and look and went when it was safe. i wasnt even out in the intersection just movnig up so i could see.

Nope. It's for failure to come to a complete stop prior to reaching/crossing the "limit line."
Theres a ticket for that? Weird. I guess cops have a ticket for anything if they feel like writing you one. Sucks. Try to fight it.

Edit: so it is a red light violation? **** son, Tell him that, and also say that thers no oway he saw you since his view was probably obstructed by the same buildings your view was.

I had a rookie cop write me a ticket for making a left turn on red once in our downtown area (which is almost entirely comprised on one-way streets) The reason it shocked me when he pulled me over and told me what he was writing me up for is that here (and maybe elsewhere but I know for a fact in Louisiana this is true) making a left turn on red, providing the street you are turning from and the street you are turning onto are both one-way streets is completely legal. Ergo - if you were going to turn at all at the intersection rather than going straight through the light a left is your only option.

I asked him several times was he entirely sure he wanted to write this citation as I would most certainly go to court and fight it. He got this smug look on his face and said, "You may do whatever you like, sir, but that doesn't excuse the fact that you made an illegal turn against a red light."

He didn't look so smug when the judge asked him if he slept overly much in class while he was at the police academy and dismissed my ticket since what I did was in no way a violation //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Well if it says redlight violation and there wasn't a light then i think you could get out of it just by that lol. but really take pics of the wall/building from the angle you were at to show the judge that it isn't possible to see. Also what is your record like, do you have any wreckless/careless driving offenses?

Thats the way it is everywhere I have been. One way to oneway left turns are legal.

hahaha pwned.

and to the OP, seems from your description you're not in the wrong. fight it.

same thing happened to me, except the traffic camera took a pic of my car. I waited for the ticket to come but it never came, probably reviewed and dismissed.

There was a light at the intersection, but, to be able to see you have to move up some. im gonna go take pictures later on today. I just got a speeding ticket in nevada a month and a half ago, 50 in a 45. other then that thats it.
