well, tippmann is a HP marker (High pressure, means there is a higher pressure of air behind the ball when its fired and is harsher on paint, and breaks more in the breach ), it is known for its durability, however with that durability comes weight and slow firing.
The tippmann can cycle at like 15 balls per second. Tippmanns are known as low end guns. Nothing wrong with them, but they are.
My sft on the other hand is a LP marker ( low pressure much easier on paint) it can shoot over 20bps, uses a much different design and is lighter.
However if the kid doesnt know much about markers, he probably would be better off with a tippmann
